- 1 8 –oz. can crescent roll dough
- 2 1/2 slices American cheese optional
- 10 hot dogs any variety
- Cooking spray or 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Mustard or ketchup for the eyes
- Googly eyes optional
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
Separate crescent roll dough and place it on a cutting board. Press the perforated seams together to create smooth sheets. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into thin strips to wrap your mummies.
Take a hot dog, and if you’re using cheese, lay a strip of cheese under the hot dog. Wrap the hot dog with the dough strips, leaving a small space near the top for the eyes.
Place the mummy hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, and lightly spray them with cooking oil or brush with melted butter.
Bake for 12-16 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown.
After removing from the oven, let the mummy hot dogs cool slightly. Add two small dots of mustard or ketchup near the top of each mummy to create eyes. Stick googly eyes on the dots for extra fun if desired.
Storage: Mummy hot dogs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Freezing: Once cooled, these can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for 5-10 minutes at 350°F to restore crispiness.
Tip: If using cheese, it may melt and create a slightly messy appearance. Skip the cheese for neater mummies!
